It’s a fair stat to highlight, but I think more importantly, it highlights the failure of the education system to teach college graduates not to depend on an economy (particularly our own) to provide them opportunities.  Stop waiting for opportunities, go create them.  Hence, ideas like the Peter Thiel Stop Out of School program.
